Crisis. What crisis?
Major, unpredictable events – crises – can threaten organizations and their stakeholders.
A “crisis” is characterized by
- A threat (real or imagined) to the organization
- Surprise
- Shortness of time to make decisions.
Most organizations have emergency response plans for fires, and evacuations.
Crisis Management involves taking a more strategic approach than Emergency Response.
Systematic management of crises is a challenge, which organizations now accept. Organizations can no longer just hope for the best that a crisis would never happen to them.
